To ensure you're receiving the freshest coffee possible, we generally push orders placed over the weekend to the following roast week. So if you order on a Friday afternoon, your order may not be sent out until Wednesday. This also includes 5lb bags.
What We Taste: pluot + 100 grand + cosmic apple + almond
From our most developed farmer relationship comes this gem from Guatemala. “La Joya” translates to “The Jewel” in Spanish, and that is exactly what this coffee represents. From esteemed producer David Solano, a mechanical engineer who after winning three back-to-back national barista competitions, devotes himself entirely to trailblazing the cultivation of specialty coffee in his family’s 150 year old farm in Chimaltenango. The farm Finca La Joya has been in the family for four generations and some of the coffee plants are more than 125 years old. David’s brother, Eddy, who has an engineering degree in science administration, specializes in logistics and exporting for the farm while also managing the books.Tyler and Kelsea, the owners of Captain and Stoker, visited the farm in June of 2023. David and Eddy not only showed incredible hospitality, but they led a tour of their processing facilities and shared the history of the the area and farm, which in turn enriched the collective C+S appreciation for Guatemalan coffee culture. It has truly been a gift to work so closely with this family of specialty coffee producers and share it with you. We hope you enjoy it as much as we do!
